Felix's Rubber Puppy Gear Guide

Starting out as a rubber puppy? Here’s a list of the gear that I have direct experience with.

Hoods

WetHot (link)

The WetHot hood is one of my favourite hoods. It’s very versatile and customizable. All WetHot hoods come with a lockable collar, they’re available in made to measure, and they have an option for attaching a blindfold and a gag. The muzzle has a zipper, so it’s not that great for oral sex.

The downside of WetHot hoods is that they use snap fasteners and grommets that contain copper, and this affects the latex over time. The manufacturer recommends that you do not wash the hood and do not use silicone on it. If you want to wash the hood, you can try to order it custom without snaps and grommets, and putting in plastic KAM snaps, which do not affect the latex.

Mister S Rubber Puppy Hood (link)

My other favourite hood. It’s not as versatile, but it looks very cute and has a big mouth opening, so it’s easy to eat with it, you can kiss with it, and it’s better suited for oral sex.

This hood also suffers from not being washable; it uses snap fasteners that rust. The manufacturer recommends that you don’t wash it and dry it immediately when it gets wet. You can replace the snap fasteners with plastic KAM snaps, but you’ll need to remove the fabric backing in some places because the material is too thick for KAM snaps.

(As of Aug 24th 2016, Mister S has "started an effort to get snaps that can stand having water left on them".)

Mister S Neoprene Puppy Hood (link)

The cheaper brother of the rubber puppy hood. Very comfortable and robust.

These hoods have started using plastic snaps in their recent batches (as of September 2017.)

Blackstyle (link)

This hood is currently not available in their catalog, but rumours say that you can order it if you ask for it. They are also available in the Blackstyle shop in Berlin.

It’s a molded hood that comes in a variety of options – open muzzle or not, attached collar, lockable collar etc. It’s one size fits all.

This hood is washable.

RubberDawg (link)

Rubberdawg does a lot of custom work; the web site only lists a small selection of his hoods, and you probably want to talk with them about what exact style of hood you want. They do different colours, shapes, styles, toony, realistic etc. Rubberdawg uses a unique process where the hoods are not molded or constructed from sheet latex; instead they use latex that is brushed onto a mold. This results in a very thick hood with a fur-like texture.

Fit can be hit or miss with Rubberdawg hoods; some people report great fit, others need to adjust the hood frequently while wearing.

Paws

Blackstyle Bondage Mitts (link)

Hear me out. These are not really paws. But if you glue latex pawpads on them, they turn into the perfect puppy mitts. They’re thick, they’re sturdy, they’re lockable, and they’re tight. My favourite paws. I put a small rubber ball into them to fill up the extra space and make it harder to grasp things.

Heavy Rubber Shop (link)

These are available with lockable cuffs. My version of them has a single strap as the cuff that is attached to the paws with a single rivet; this will probably break at some point. Some pictures in the web shop show a double strap for the cuff; possibly they changed their design. The latex is fairly thin, probably .45mm.

Skintightrubber (link)

These puppy mitts have a hard plate that makes it impossible to grasp things. Unfortunately they are not lockable, and I can get out of them within seconds.

Tails

Square Peg (link)

The classic plug tail manufacturer. Comes in many different sizes and styles.

Bon4 (link)

I have one of these. They’re virtually identical to the classic Square Peg plug tail. There’s only one variety and two colours colours compared to Square Peg.

Square Peg/Mister S Show Tail (link)

This tail is made by Square Peg. It’s not a plug tail, so it’s good if you don’t want something stuck up your arse. You need extra equipment to attach it to your body. If you buy from Mister S, you it comes with a belt adapter, and Mister S also sells a butt plug harness adapter and a harness for wearing.

Fetish Zone interchangeable tail plug (link)

This is a unique tail in that you can choose the length of the tail and the size of the plug. The long tail is really long and puts a lot of leverage on the plug. The small plug is kinda small while the large one is ... too large for me. It might be the right thing for you if you're looking for a special size or style.

Kneepads

There’s a wide variety of kneepads available and you can get them from pretty much any sporting goods store. Here’s some that I use.

McDavid Hex Knee Pads (link)

These are very comfortable and don’t slip, but because they are made from lycra they are not very sturdy. Best used indoors, probably not a good idea for being outside on asphalt.

Dye Paintball Knee Pads (link)

These are sturdy and suited for outdoor use. They do slip to the side for me when wearing them over rubber, so I need to adjust them regularly when I’m on all fours.

Dainese Performance Knee Guards Evo (link)

These go with my motocross armour. They’re reasonably comfortable, they are hard shell so good for hard surfaces, but they do slip.

Fox Titan Pro Knee Guards (link)

Another set of knee guards to go with motocross armour. These are unsuitable for being on all fours due to their construction (your knee sits in a fairy big plastic shell in these.) I use them for show but not for playing on all fours.
